With Flies on Shit Schadenfreude move beyond the realm of unpopular music to critique the global world of corporate and media dominated lives, and by eschewing the artificial restraints placed on ordinary musicians - by considerations such as marketability, listenability, quality, or appreciable talent - are able to transcend the commercially driven restrictions to free expression and draw a frighteningly idiotic audio portrait of the modern world.
Drawing on their doubted musical ability Schadenfreude once again prove that skill is no bar to musical greatness as they navigate the visible underbelly of corporate prescribed lifestyles and glossy media-perpetuated images of normalcy. Their by now familiar dual ambient/harsh noise attack - the result of a careful combination of digital, analogue and acoustic sources with their own expertly truncated form of musical competence - is percolated throughout by glimpses of the cracks in the facade of modern life, and inflicted on the listener in the form of two full-length CDs.
Music of this kind of quality is rarely produced so consistently, and in such an unprecedented and wholly unnecessary volume, yet Schadenfreude, like the corporate mass media itself, seem undaunted in their quest to produce innumerable works of questionable value and quality for the overwhelming deficit of mankind as a whole.'
