about

C23CDR005
'Schadenfreude's third release is dedicated to a true pioneer of electronic music.

Daphne Oram created her music in collaboration with Vera Gray, at her electronic studio in Kent, England during the early sixties. By using audio generators, many tape recorders, filters, ring modulators and other electronic devices, she built up the tone colours, pitched each of the notes separately, gave them duration and dynamics and finally spliced the notes together to obtain the required rhythms and sequences. Her original recordings still retain the ability to baffle and suprise the listener to this day.

In this their first multi track release, Schadenfreude have taken sounds originally produced by Daphne Oram nearly forty years ago, and created a structure over which to reproduce their own unique audio formations. Using analogue and digital instruments, combined with various acoustic sources and innovative aural generations, the result is an intriguing, astounding work which spans the decades of electronic music, and pays reverent homage to a true pioneer of the art form.'
